About Miss Perron

Hello! I have been working in the Walpole Public Schools since 1998, when I started at OPR as an instructional aide.  I was hired as a classroom teacher in February, 2000. All my experiences here in Walpole have been wonderful. A few years ago I was honored to be inducted into Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional society for women educators.

Personally I had a great elementary experience at Holy Name School in West Roxbury where my favorite teachers were Mr. Bernazzani (grade 2) and Mrs. O'Grady (grade 5).  Their positive and fair attitudes toward the students had a tremendous impact on me and truly made learning interesting and fun.  I started at Boston Latin School in the seventh grade (I was a sixie!) and graduated from BLS in 1991.    From there, I attended Bridgewater State College where I double majored in Elementary Education and Earth Science.  I also have my Master's degree in Elementary Education from Framingham State College.

In addition to living and breathing education in some form or other, I spend a great deal of time with my beautiful, 8 year old niece, Emily.  We explore places like Mass Audubon locations, zoos, museums and more! We read together a ton and have been listening to all the Rick Riordan books on CD in the car. Another hobby of mine is photography and I am looking forward to taking some classes.  Many of you may know that I worked at Fenway Park for a number of years, though 2007 was my final season. I started and ended my career there on World Series years! It was great fun, but my schedule no longer allows for it,  though I still enjoy going to a game once in awhile!

Another favorite place of ours is The Blue Bunny Bookstore in Dedham, MA.  It is owned and operated by the Reynolds family.  Peter H. Reynolds is a favorite, award winning author and illustrator and spends a great deal of time at the store encouraging and inspiring children and adults alike to be bold, collaborative, innovative, and creative.  The bookstore runs many events that also nurture these characteristics that are so important to our 21st Century learners. One of their great projects is the publishing of a children's literature magazine called Hutch.  Believe it or not, we have many published authors right here at Elm Street School!

In addition to attending as many book signings, magazine launches, art classes, book clubs, and other fun events at The Blue Bunny, we also connected with a fantastic organization called Catching Joy.  Catching Joy was started by the Surprenant family to promote volunteerism in youths.  Emily is a Catching Joy Kid and I am a board member.  Though many events are held at The Blue Bunny, events are held all over and can be viewed at www.catchingjoy.org.  I am hoping to host some events at the Walpole Public Library within the next couple of months.  I'll keep everyone informed!  :)
